CGNY Reception by TMM & Boston Indian Associations

On April 10th, Tamil Makkal Mandram along with key Boston organizations got together and arranged a welcome event for Honorable Consulate General Of India, New York, Mrs Riva Ganguly Das. This event was held at The Chinmaya Mission Center in Andover and was FREE for public to attend. Pawan Roy and Maha were the Masters of Ceremony which began with a beautiful cultural program. After the invocation prayer by Bal Vihar kids, and the National anthems, a welcome address by Dr Gopala Dwarakanath, president of Chinmaya Mission was delivered to the audience. Janani Sharma, of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa USA fame, sang a beautiful "Yeh Jo Desh Hai Mera" and touched the hearts of all present. The President of Tamil Makkal Mandram, Karthikeyan Ramu, delivered brief speech welcoming  the new Ambassador and then introduced the next section which included a Bharatnatyam dance presentation as well as classical song presented by children of TMM family. 

Pranava Swaroopan, the classical Bharatha Natiyam dance composed by Shri. Madura R. Muralidaran was performed by Karthi Mahendrakumar. She is a student of Smt. Suja Meyyappan of Kolam Academy of Dance.Kurai Onrum Illai (No grievances I have) is a Tamil devotional song written by Indian politician, freedom-fighter and Governor-General of IndiaChakravarti Rajagopalachari in gratitude to Hindu God. This song is unique because it does not assume the tone of devoted prayer as most Hindu devotional songs but one of thankfulness to God. This song was performed by the students for Smt. Aparna Balaji.

A session of interaction was conducted by Deputy CG Mr. Manoj Mohapatra sharing facts about the developments that have been happening over the recent times within the Consulate General Office, followed by Ambassador Das, sharing her enthusiasm about moving forward and continuing to develop relations with the communities at large, and a Q&A session open to the audience. 

Mr Sanjay Kaul, an eminent community member and convener of Hindu Heritage Day, delivered the Vote Of Thanks. 
This was followed by an intimate welcome dinner with the CG at Bollywood Grill attended by participating organization heads. This event was jointly conducted by Global Indians Bharat Vikas, Chinmaya Mission Boston, Global Indian Business Council, Om Hindu Community Center, India Association Of Greater Boston, Moksha Spa and Wellness Center Methuen, Tamil Makkal Mandram and Milan MA 

TMM was proud to join hands with organizations such as the Global Indians for Bharat Vikas (GIBV), Chinmaya Mission Boston (CMB), Global Indian Business Council (GIBC), Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA) and India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB) to host the event.  TMM as a community based non-profit organization, strongly believes such connections and presence is critical, to stand as a supporting organization, when there is a need for community members.
